125th Anniversary Memorial Service Battle of Paardeburg (Boer War)
ChancelParish of Saint John Trinity Church 115 Charlotte Street Saint John, NB E2L 2J2Harold Wright is organizing the 125th Anniversary Memorial Service for the Battle of Paardeburg – a significant battle in the Boer War which involved the 2nd Battalion, Royal Canadian Regiment. This was the Regiment’s first overseas action and was the first loss of the Regiment’s troops during that war, including the first Canadian who was from New Brunswick. Of significant historical reference, the first Memorial service for the South Africa war was held here at Trinity in 1900 with the only original Order of Service held at the New Brunswick Museum archives.
